Manage staff of 27, ensuring availability and reliability of 229 computers and 18 printers in 7 labs across the campus. Complete building blocks of unit started as Night Manager such as but not limited to: reporting database for lab assistants; checks for “floater” to report from all labs; easy access for lab assistants to reporting database; redesigned labs web site, giving student managers team time to complete; and correct lab network setup for ease of administration. Supervise the daily operation of campus computing laboratory activities including but not limited to: managing the availability of all equipment in the labs, resulting in a 99.5% rate of uptime; adjusting the operational hours for labs as use and classes dictate; structured staff for ease of management and to provide experience for student lab managers; generate, provide and interpret reports as required; managing inventory, ensuring required levels of supplies maintained and available (paper and toner management); and reporting maintenance requirements to vendors. Support faculty/staff related to software installed in labs including but not limited to: request of installation/upgrade of software in the labs (install and test for compatibility with system/network); research, test and consult on acquisition of hardware/software for Technology in Learning Center (obtaining equipment and programs to keep the faculty ahead of the technology curve); provide support/assistance to departmental labs (support 5 departmental labs across campus). Manage the long term operations of the labs activities including but not limited to: research, test and consult on acquisition of new equipment on the lease system (equipment includes Dell PC's, Apple e-Macs, and “local network” equipment-like switches); appropriate software configurations for each lab; and ensure compliance with software license agreements (over 100 applications and programs across labs). Resolve and manage needs for laboratories and provide assistance and training for laboratory assistants to provide assistant to patrons. Work with vendors to resolve questions/problems and research ways new technologies may be utilized on campus. Other duties include special projects as directed by Chief Information Officer and Associate Provost.
